The digital CrimsonCard is your official IU ID conveniently located in your Apple Wallet. After adding your digital CrimsonCard to your Wallet, simply tap your iPhone or Apple Watch at readers on and off campus for building access, printing, purchases, and more.
Activating your digital CrimsonCard on you Apple device
The digital CrimsonCard is supported on the following devices:
Apple iPhone: iPhone SE, iPhone 6s or later; iOS 15 or later.
Apple Watch: Apple watch series 1 or later; Watch OS 5 or later.
The digital CrimsonCard can be added to up to two Apple devices, including one iPhone and one Apple Watch, as long as both are signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID.
Current Cardholders: Students and employees who currently have a physical CrimsonCard can skip to step 2.
New Cardholders: Login to IU Mobile and upload a headshot that meets the photo guidelines and one valid government-issued ID. Once completed, submit for approval.
The approval notice will be sent to the applicant's IU email within 7-10 business days. The denied reason will be provided if rejected, and another photo can be submitted.
After receiving approval, proceed to step 2.
Instructions for Apple devices:
- Ensure that you have an approved photo on file. If you are not sure if you have an approved photo, contact the Campus Card office at crimsoncard@iu.edu.
- Download the GET app from the Apple app store.
- Login to GET with your IU credentials and complete the Duo authentication.
- Create a PIN.
- Select the “Add to Apple Wallet” button and choose whether you would like to add the digital CrimsonCard to your iPhone or Apple Watch. You may add the ID to both device types.
- Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
- The ID will now be available in your Wallet.
Do not delete the GET Mobile app or the IU Mobile app. If you do, your digital CrimsonCard will be removed as well. (??? Is this true)
Physical CrimsonCard deactivated immediately
Once the digital CrimsonCard is in your Apple Wallet, the physical CrimsonCard will no longer be active.
Building access available in 10-15 minutes.
After activating your digital CrimsonCard, please allow 10-15 minutes for the digital CrimsonCard to be registered into the IU building access system.

Once your digital CrimsonCard is activated, it can be used to make purchases immediately anywhere it is accepted as payment.

You should use Find My iPhone to deactivate your digital CrimsonCard in Apple Wallet. Instructions for Lost/Found Apple devices and Find My iPhone are located at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201472.
You can reactivate a found device that was suspended via iCloud.com.
You should first remove your digital CrimsonCard from your old device in the Apple Wallet app. Once it is removed, you can add your digital CrimsonCard to the new device by using the IU Mobile App.
On iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, and newer, Express Mode with power reserve allows the digital CrimsonCard to work for up to five hours after the device's battery is depleted and needs charging.
This feature ensures you can still access campus buildings and make payments with your CrimsonCard even if your phone battery is low or temporarily dead.
Digital CrimsonCard in Apple Wallet can be used even if your iPhone or Apple Watch does not have network connectivity, as the digital CrimsonCard is stored on your device.
If you are using Express Mode, you do not have to do anything but tap your device. If you are not using Express Mode, you will have to authenticate each time you access your phone. This is a user security preference. Note: Express Mode is turned on by default.
Yes. When you open the Wallet app and select your digital CrimsonCard, you can view your CrimsonCard, payroll deduct, and meal plan balances.
As of iOS 16.4, Region is no longer a necessary setting.
If your device is using an earlier OS you should update it to the latest or your Region must be set to United States. In Settings, select Language & Region, and change the Region to the United States.
Your other device will continue to work; however, you should mark the missing device as lost on icloud.com until it is found.

CrimsonCash is money deposited into your CrimsonCash account. These funds can be used to make purchases anywhere CrimsonCash is accepted, both on- and off-campus. Every current student has a CrimsonCash account and can make deposits.
Benefits of using CrimsonCash:
- Convenient access to funds
- Can use funds at any IU campus
- Make deposits as needed
- Unused funds roll over year to year
- The account cannot be overdrawn
- Manage your account online, including deactivating a lost card
- More secure than using cash
All students have a CrimsonCash account and can deposit funds (CrimsonCash) by logging into their CrimsonCash account. These deposits can be paid for using a debit/credit card.
Website Deposit - Available to anyone, deposits can be made from the CrimsonCard website using a debit/credit card or PayPal. A $2.50 fee applies to each deposit made.
You can manage your CrimsonCash account online at crimsoncard.iu.edu by clicking 'Manage My ID Card' and logging in with your username and passphrase.
From here you can:
- Make a deposit
- Check your balance
- View your transaction history
- Deactivate a lost or stolen CrimsonCard
- Set up automatic account notifications
- Locate your 16-digit card number
Funds on your CrimsonCard can be used at over 150 locations statewide, both on- and off-campus.
