Digital CrimsonCard

Digital CrimsonCard photos expire every 6 years. You'll get an email reminder when it's time to upload a new photo using the latest version of the IU Mobile app.

Once the new photo is approved, your digital CrimsonCard photo will update automatically.

Physical CrimsonCard

CrimsonCards expire every 6 years. You’ll receive an email reminder when it’s time to renew your physical CrimsonCard at a CrimsonCard office.

Renewals are provided at no cost starting 90 days before expiration if you return your current card.  You can upload a new photo in advance or have one taken on-site.

Affiliates: Renewals cost $35 and require a renewed authorization form to be completed by the University sponsor.

Lost, stolen, or damaged

Digital CrimsonCard

If your device is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can remove your digital CrimsonCard and reinstall it on a new device at no cost using the latest version of the IU Mobile app.

Need a physical card while you get a new device? You can request one by visiting the CrimsonCard office.

Lost, stolen, or damaged

Physical CrimsonCard

If your physical CrimsonCard is lost, stolen, or damanged, you can set up a digital CrimsonCard at no cost or replace the physical card for $35. 

For stolen cards, the $35 fee is waived if a police report or case number is presented. If the fee is paid before obtaining a report or case number, a refund request can be made within 14 days by visiting any CrimsonCard Office or emailing crimsoncard@iu.edu with your username and university ID.

Name or department change

Digital CrimsonCard

Name changes will automatically update on your digital CrimsonCard within 24 hours after being processed in the IU system. 

Employee departments are not displayed on the digital CrimsonCard.

Physical CrimsonCard

If your name or department changes, exchange your current CrimsonCard for a new one at no cost. Without the original card, a $35 replacement fee applies.
