Step 1 - Locate your 10-digit Indiana University ID number in your myPurdue portal and create your Indiana University computing account.
- Log in to the myPurdue portal. Your 10-digit Indiana University ID number is visible on the Purdue Indianapolis Info card. If the card is not visible, click 'Discover More' or select 'Discover' from the menu and search for Purdue Indianapolis.
- Create your Indiana University computing account by following the steps listed in Create your first IU computing accounts.
Important Note: Because this information must sync across Indiana University systems, it may take up to 24 hours after your computing account is created before you can access some services.
Step 2 - Prepare your CrimsonCard photo and ID verification documentation.
- Say cheese! Take or find a headshot picture that meets the photo requirements for your CrimsonCard. The photo should resemble your driver's license or state ID photo.
- Verifying you’re you! Take a photo of your valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, military ID, state ID, or school ID). You may redact any sensitive information you prefer; however, your submission must clearly show your photo, full name, date of birth, and expiration date. Your saved file should be in .JPG format and not exceed 1.5 MB.
Step 3 – As noted in Step 1, allow up to 24 hours after creating your IU account for systems to update before proceeding.
Step 4 - Upload your CrimsonCard photo and ID
- Download, open, and log in to the latest version of the IU Mobile app from your app store.
- Tap the digital CrimsonCard button, verify you are eligible for a digital CrimsonCard, and select the Start button.
- Review the photo requirements and tap Select Photo.
- Select the photo from your device that you would like to use as your CrimsonCard photo.
- Select Edit below the photo to crop or adjust the photo.
- When finished editing, select Done.
- Check the box to confirm the photo meets the requirements.
- Select Continue to begin the process of uploading your documentation to verify your identity.
- Review the requirements for a valid ID photo, and tap Select Photo
- Select the photo of your ID from your device.
- Select Edit to crop or adjust the photo as needed and select Done.
- Check the box to confirm the photo meets the requirements.
- Select Continue.
- Review both photos and select Submit.
- CrimsonCard staff will review your submission, usually within 1-3 business days (depending on volume). A notification will be sent to your IU email letting you know whether your photo was approved or denied, along with the next steps in the process.
It is strongly recommended that you upload your own photo and verification documentation so you can ensure you are satisfied with your photo. Photos taken in office are not made available for review or approval..
If you are unable to upload your photo or prefer not to, a photo can be taken in person. For help with the upload process, see “I’m having difficulty uploading my photo and verification documentation. What should I do?”
If you are having difficulty uploading your photo and/or verification documentation, try these troubleshooting tips:
- If you do not see the Digital CrimsonCard widget after logging into the IU Mobile app with your IU credentials, it may just be a timing issue. Wait one day, then log out and log back in to the IU Mobile app to see if it appears.
- If you are having issues submitting a photo using the IU Mobile app, try using the Card Management website to upload your photo.
- Ensure that the image you’re uploading does not exceed 1.5 MB in size. If necessary, edit your photo to make it smaller (crop it or adjust the resolution/quality).
- Make sure you’re not uploading a “Live” photo.
If you continue to experience difficulties, contact BannerSupport@purdue.edu.
Yes, you can switch to the digital CrimsonCard. Please note that your physical CrimsonCard will be deactivated if you switch to the digital CrimsonCard. For security reasons, you can only have one active CrimsonCard at a time.
For instructions on switching to the digital CrimsonCard, please see the digital CrimsonCard website.
Those who lack compatible technology, are not eligible for the digital CrimsonCard, or prefer a physical card can obtain one at the CrimsonCard office.
